Backyard Burn Season – Delayed

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has delayed the opening of backyard burning. In alignment with this decision, Aurora Fire District will also postpone the start of burn season till October 15th.

While cooler weather is in the forecast, conditions remain unusually dry, and starting the season now would present an increased risk. Fire officials will continue to monitor conditions and reevaluate next week to determine if it will be safe to open by October 15th.

If you see burning taking place before the season is open and it is not an immediate threat to life or property, please report it using the Oregon DEQ Complaint Form: https://www.oregon.gov/.../File-Pollution-Complaint.aspx. The DEQ oversees regulations related to burning outside of the designated season and the burning of prohibited materials such as household waste and construction debris.
