REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATONS

 

TRAINING/ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

As a support member with Aurora Fire you will be expected to complete District training and task performances for support of firefighters. You will begin orientation and support function training with other volunteers weekly on Monday evenings.

 

Once you have completed training you will be required to maintain that training by attending a minimum of 33% per quarter of fire or medical drills.  Drill is held weekly on Monday evenings at 7pm and you will report to your assigned station.

 

DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Support members would provide a variety of support functions which would include traffic control, assisting with bottle exchanges, firefighter rehab, cleaning and restoration of equipment and much more.  Support members may also assist with fire prevention and outreach activities within our communities and schools.

 

IN-DISTRICT SUPPORT MEMBER PROGRAM

The in-district support member program provides on-call response services to the District.  You would be a home responder that will respond to emergencies when you are available to do so. Support members would drive their personal vehicle to their assigned station and join other responders and staff to respond to the emergency.  In order to qualify you must reside within the Aurora Fire District and be willing to respond at all hours.
