SMOKE/CO DETECTORS
It's no news to you that smoke & carbon monoxide (CO) detectors save lives. But do you have them in your home? If so, is it in proper working condition? We offer a free detector check and will come to your home to ensure your detector is working, installed in the right location, and is ready to save your life in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide emergency.
Check and install all detectors in accordance to manufacturer's recommendations. It is recommended to check your detectors at least once every 6 months. A good reminder is when you change your clock, check your detectors.
Did you know that all detectors should be completely replaced after 10 years? The sensors begin to deteriorate over time and may not alert you of the presence of smoke or carbon monoxide (CO). So check the date on the back or side. If it's 10 years or older, it should be replaced.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms and Selling your home:
A CO alarm detects carbon monoxide and produces a distinctive audible alert when CO is detected. It may be a standalone unit or part of an alarm system. (OAR 837-047-0110) If a home has a CO source, CO alarms are required before it can be sold.
Starting April 1, 2011, sellers of one-and two-family dwellings, manufactured dwellings, or multifamily housing containing a CO source must have one or more properly functioning CO alarms before conveying fee title or transferring possession of a dwelling. (OAR 837-047-0120).
Homes built during or after 2011 require a CO alarm regardless of the presence of a CO source.
