Becoming a Volunteer Firefighter for
Aurora Rural Fire District No. 63
Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in protecting and serving our community. They respond to a wide variety of emergency situations such as, fires, emergency medical aids, hazardous materials, vehicle accidents, and many others. They also participate in public education, fire prevention and other events throughout the community.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Operate as a member of a team. Respond on and or operate fire apparatus and other mechanical equipment. Perform fire suppression and rescue operations. Administer emergency medical aid, participate in weekly training, fill out appropriate forms and records along with other related tasks as required. Lift and or carry heavy objects. Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

You will receive certifications from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training upon completion of training.
Certifications such as:
NFPA Firefighter 1
Wild Land Interface Firefighter
Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
NFPA Driver
NFPA Pump Operator
Requirements for becoming a volunteer:
Must be it least 18 years of age.
Reside or work within the Aurora Fire District.
Must possess and maintain a current driver's license and be insurable by the district.
Must be in good physical condition and pass a doctors physical.
Must pass a background check.
Must be motivated and have a positive attitude.
Selection Process:
Complete Application packet and turn in to the Fire District.
Oral interview conducted by District Officers.
